Joseph Campbell once said "The perfect human being is uninteresting...it is the imperfections of life that are lovable".  As your journey begins...know that our imperfections though undesired, make us who we are and our story one worth telling.

About Dave (he/him/his)

Dave’s partner Grace (she/her/hers) and their first born is a sweet little Whipdor named Rey (pictured above). If I am not in session, I am probably into a good book, motorcycling, woodworking, golfing, hiking, listening to vinyl, or eating Mexican food. I am a Type 2 (The Helper) on the Enneagram, and a Meyers Briggs ESFP.

I hail from Minneapolis, MN in the frosty north. I graduated from a small, private school in Minneapolis, MN in 2005. At 28, I transitioned to Nashville, TN and started a graduate program in Marriage and Family Therapy at Trevecca Nazarene University which I completed in 2016.  I was drawn to the M.M.F.T. program because of my own journey with anxiety and depression.

Dave was honored to receive a lifetime membership to the ODK National Leadership Honors Society in 2021 and the Tower Award from Belmont University in 2020.

Style and Modalities

Dave primarily sees with clients dealing with anxiety, creative blocks/creative process, depression, spirituality (post-evangelical, deconstruction, and religious trauma), relationships (premarital, communication/conflict), and sexuality.

Sessions are held in an office with a warm and welcoming environment. Dave loves to laugh and hopes in each session that you feel comfortable and heard.

For individuals, Dave mainly works within the modalities of Self-Compassion, Narrative Therapy, Insight Based Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).  Read more about these styles here:

For couples and families, Dave leans more heavily into an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) modality which you can read about here:
